Кого там интересовало, почему Дженни Дольфен вечно рисует Маэдроса с короткими волосами?
Haha, I'm going to give you both answers. :D
Answer number two: Because when the orcs captured him, they cut off his hair, and he kept it short afterwards - for practicality and as a constant reminder.
(That's the thoughtful answer that's never stated in the book, of course.)
Answer number one: Because I've just always imagined him like that.
(That's the true answer which nobody seems to want. :D)
As for why I've always imagined him short-haired and others long-haired from the start - it has to do with personality and sounds in names. I noticed that many characters with dark, masculine-sounding sounds in their names got short hair from me, of people who were just so no-nonsense that I just couldn't imagine them long-haired. MaedhrOS, FeanOR, ThingOL, TURgOn all have short(ish) hair for me. With Maedhros, it can well be that the Greek ending to his name helped.
